Lupton Fawcett shortlisted in three categories at the YLA awards 2024

We’re pleased to announce that we have been shortlisted in three categories at this year’s Yorkshire Legal Awards: Regulatory & Compliance, Criminal Law and Employment Law.

This will be the third consecutive year that our regulatory and corporate defence team (Team RCD) have been shortlisted in the Regulatory & Compliance category. They have a vast wealth of experience and expertise across every area of regulatory crime and compliance, with a strong emphasis on defending fraud cases.

The fraud/POCA specialists on the team, Meghan Waldron & Jeremy Scott have developed a niche practice focussed on defending corporate clients, their important people and HNW individuals when facing investigation or prosecution for allegations of fraud brought by the Police, the Serious Fraud Office, HMRC, NCA, NATIS and the Insolvency Service.

Team RCD has also been shortlisted in the Criminal Law category. The team have a long-standing reputation for providing the highest level of advice and representation for those facing criminal allegations.

In August 2023, Richard Etherington joined Team RCD. His strategic hire bolstered the team’s practice in RASSO and University Misconduct cases, further adding to their fierce reputation for securing the very best results for their clients.

Jeremy Scott, who leads Lupton Fawcett’s regulatory and corporate defence team and is head of the firm’s York office, said ‘It’s fantastic to have been shortlisted in these categories at the Yorkshire Legal Awards, and for the team’s commitment to providing outstanding legal services and advice to be recognised. I’m thrilled that we’ve been named as finalists and am immensely proud of the team.’

Award winning employment team nominated again!

Having been named as finalist in previous years, our employment team were also shortlisted again in the Employment Law category this year. The 9-strong team provide legal advice and strategies across all aspects of employment law, from day-to-day HR advice provided through its fixed-fee retainer service, Augment, to support with acquisitions and business organisations, discrimination and whistleblowing cases and, employment tribunals and litigation.

Andrew Gilchrist, Partner and head of the employment team said ‘We’re so pleased to have been named as a finalist in this category, and it really highlights the amazing work we’ve achieved over the last year. Having welcomed three new solicitors to the team in the last 12 months, it’s been great to see them hit the ground running and contribute to our success so early on.’

We’re looking forward to attending the awards in October this year, especially as it’s the 25th anniversary of the Yorkshire Legal Awards so it’s expected to be the best yet.
