David founded Coates & Co, a boutique commercial law firm, and headed it for 25 years, before merging with a larger law firm. He is now a consultant in the commercial property department of Lupton Fawcett LLP.

David is a commercial lawyer, with a particular specialism in commercial property law. His client base is widely spread across the business sector, and includes landlords, retailers, commercial and residential property developers, manufacturers and leisure operators.
David provides a bespoke service to his clients, bringing in colleagues with specialisms in other areas of the law, when required, while maintaining a close personal supervision of all his clients’ matters.
He also has 30 years’ experience of growing and managing his own portfolio of commercial investment properties.
